Net (excl. VAT)
VAT amount
Gross (incl. VAT)
Add VAT to a net price or remove it from a gross price in one step. Pick Spain, France or the United Kingdom to get the usual rates ready to click, or type your own rate. You see the net amount, the VAT amount and the gross amount. Nothing is sent anywhere.
How to calculate VAT
- Choose “Add VAT” to go from net to gross, or “Remove VAT” to go from gross to net.
- Type the amount, then pick a country and a rate (Spain 21, 10 or 4%; France 20, 10, 5.5 or 2.1%; United Kingdom 20, 5 or 0%), or enter a custom rate.
- Read the net amount, the VAT and the gross amount, and copy the summary if you need it.
Why use a VAT calculator?
Quotes, invoices and shop prices are given either with or without VAT, and converting between the two by hand is where mistakes happen: removing 20% VAT from a gross price is not the same as subtracting 20% of it. A calculator applies the right formula and rounds to the cent, which helps you check an invoice or price a product correctly.
Frequently asked questions
Is this VAT calculator free?
Yes. It’s free, with no sign-up and no limit.
How do I add VAT to a price?
Choose Add VAT and enter the net price and the rate. The VAT is the net amount multiplied by the rate, and the gross price is the net plus the VAT.
How do I remove VAT from a price?
Choose Remove VAT and enter the gross price. The net price is the gross divided by 1 plus the rate, for example 1.20 for 20% VAT.
Which VAT rates are included?
Spain 21%, 10% and 4%; France 20%, 10%, 5.5% and 2.1%; United Kingdom 20%, 5% and 0%. They are the main national rates and can change, so check the rate that applies to your product, or use the custom rate.
Does it round the amounts?
Yes, to the cent.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. All the calculations happen in your browser.
