This policy explains what information Utilo (utilotools.com) handles when you visit the site and use its tools. The short version: the files you use in our tools stay on your device.
The files you use in our tools
Utilo’s tools run in your browser. The images, PDF files, text and numbers you use are processed on your own device. They are never uploaded to our servers, never sent to any third party and never stored by us.
Data kept in your browser
A few features keep small pieces of data in your browser only (using localStorage). This data stays on your device and never reaches us:
- your theme preference (light or dark);
- the text you write in the Word Counter, only if you tick “Save my text in this browser”. You can remove it with the Clear text button or by clearing your browser data.
Cookies
We use a cookie to remember the language you chose. It is set by the Polylang plugin and is needed for the site to show the language you picked. We also use cookies from Google for analytics and advertising, as described below.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited), and Google AdSense to show ads that help fund the site. Both services are provided by Google. They use cookies or similar technologies, and Google may receive data such as your IP address and information about your browser and device.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google’s certified consent message before these cookies are used. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, and you can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Google explains how it uses data in its own privacy information, and you can manage ad personalisation in your Google account settings.
Hosting and technical logs
Our hosting provider and Cloudflare, which helps deliver and protect the site, may log technical data such as IP addresses, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of each request. This is used to run, secure and troubleshoot the site and is handled under their own privacy policies.
Why we process data
We rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site for technical logs.
Your rights
Under data-protection law such as the GDPR, you can ask for access to the personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask us to restrict or stop its use, ask for a portable copy, and withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We do not keep your files and we have no user accounts, so we hold very little personal data about you: the main data about your visit is handled by the services described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
