Your passwords

From 8 to 128 characters. Longer is stronger.
Create strong random passwords in one click, from 8 to 128 characters long. Choose uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols, skip look-alike characters and generate several passwords at once. They are made in your browser with your device’s secure random generator and are never sent anywhere.
How to generate a strong password
- Set the length with the slider. A longer password is harder to guess.
- Choose the characters to use, and tick “Exclude look-alike characters” if you will have to read or type it.
- Click Generate new passwords, check the strength meter and press Copy next to the one you want.
Why use a random password generator?
People tend to pick passwords they can remember, such as names, dates and keyboard patterns, and attackers try those first. A random password has none of those habits. The strength meter shows the entropy in bits for your settings: every extra bit doubles the number of possibilities. Use a different password for every account and keep them in a password manager so you do not need to remember them.
Frequently asked questions
Is this password generator free?
Yes. It’s free, with no sign-up and no limit.
Are my passwords sent or stored anywhere?
No. They are generated in your browser, never leave your device and are not saved. They disappear when you close or refresh the page.
How random are the passwords?
They come from crypto.getRandomValues, the secure random number generator built into your browser. The tool does not use Math.random.
What do the strength bits mean?
Entropy is worked out from the length and the number of different characters in use. The higher the number, the more guesses an attacker would need. 80 bits or more is rated very strong.
How long should a password be?
For most accounts, 16 characters mixing several character types is a good choice. Use more for important accounts such as your email or your password manager.
Which look-alike characters are excluded?
The characters 0, O, o, 1, l, I and |, which are easy to confuse when you read or type a password by hand.
